Texas Instruments recommends a compact layout with short traces, and placing the UCC3817AN close to the power stage. Additionally, a solid ground plane and a separate analog ground plane can help reduce noise and EMI.
The recommended value for the VCC bypass capacitor is 1-10uF, with a voltage rating of at least 10V. The capacitor should be placed as close as possible to the VCC pin and ground pin to minimize inductance.
The maximum allowed voltage on the VREF pin is 5.5V. Exceeding this voltage can damage the device.
While the UCC3817AN can operate at frequencies above 100kHz, it is not recommended as it may lead to increased power losses and reduced efficiency. The device is optimized for operation at frequencies up to 100kHz.
To ensure proper biasing during startup, the VCC pin should be ramped up slowly (typically 1-10ms) to allow the internal bias circuitry to stabilize. A soft-start circuit can be used to achieve this.
