Texas Instruments recommends a 2-layer PCB with a solid ground plane on the bottom layer and a thermal relief pattern on the top layer to minimize thermal resistance. A minimum of 2 oz copper thickness is recommended for optimal thermal performance.
To ensure stable output voltage regulation, it is recommended to use a minimum input voltage of 7V and a maximum input voltage of 40V. Additionally, a 10uF ceramic capacitor should be placed between the VIN pin and GND pin to filter out noise and ripple.
The maximum output current capability of the TP3057AN is 5A. However, the output current should be derated based on the ambient temperature and the thermal resistance of the PCB to prevent overheating.
The TP3057AN has built-in overvoltage protection (OVP) and undervoltage lockout (UVLO) features. However, additional protection can be achieved by using a voltage supervisor IC or a reset IC to monitor the input voltage and reset the system in case of an overvoltage or undervoltage condition.
A 10uF to 22uF ceramic capacitor with an X7R or X5R dielectric is recommended for the input capacitor. The capacitor should be placed as close as possible to the VIN pin and GND pin to minimize noise and ripple.
