A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and a separate power plane is recommended. Keep the input and output traces short and away from each other to minimize noise and coupling.
Follow the recommended power-up and power-down sequencing in the datasheet. Ensure that the input voltage (VIN) is applied before the enable pin (EN) is asserted, and that the EN pin is de-asserted before VIN is removed.
The MAX5976AETE+ can drive up to 10nF of capacitive load. Exceeding this limit may cause instability or oscillations.
Use a low-pass filter with a cutoff frequency below the switching frequency (typically 1MHz) to filter out noise and ripple. A simple RC filter with a 1uF capacitor and a 10Ω resistor can be effective.
The MAX5976AETE+ has a thermal derating of 1.5°C/W. As the junction temperature increases, the maximum output current must be derated to prevent overheating. Consult the datasheet for the thermal derating curve.
