A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and a separate power plane is recommended. Keep the input and output capacitors close to the IC, and use short, wide traces for the high-current paths.
Use a soft-start circuit to limit the inrush current during startup, and ensure the input voltage ramps up slowly. During shutdown, use a controlled shutdown sequence to prevent voltage spikes.
A low-ESR ceramic capacitor with a value of 10uF to 22uF is recommended. The capacitor should be placed close to the VIN pin and have a voltage rating of at least 2x the maximum input voltage.
Check the input voltage, output voltage, and current sense resistor values. Verify the feedback resistors are correctly connected and the output capacitor is suitable. Use an oscilloscope to check for oscillations or noise on the output.
The MAX16910CASA8/V+ is rated for operation up to 125°C. However, the device's performance and reliability may degrade at high temperatures. Ensure proper thermal design and consider derating the device's specifications accordingly.
