LTC4012 - IC BATTERY CHARGE CONTROLLER, 633 kHz SWITCHING FREQ-MAX, PQCC20, 4 X 4 MM, 0.75 MM HEIGHT, LEAD FREE, PLASTIC, MO-220WGGD-1, QFN-20, Switching Regulator or Controller
The LTC4012 can handle input voltages up to 36V, but it's recommended to keep the input voltage below 30V for optimal performance and reliability.
To ensure the internal FETs are fully turned on, the VIN pin should be at least 2.5V above the output voltage (VOUT). Additionally, the EN pin should be driven high (above 1.4V) to enable the device.
The TRK/SS pin is used for tracking or soft-start functionality. Connecting a capacitor from TRK/SS to GND sets the soft-start time, while connecting a resistor from TRK/SS to VOUT sets the output voltage tracking ratio. Refer to the datasheet for specific implementation details.
The output voltage (VOUT) is set by the resistive divider network connected to the FB pin. The formula is: VOUT = 0.8V x (R1 + R2) / R2, where R1 and R2 are the resistors in the divider network.
The maximum output current of the LTC4012 is 2A, but it's limited by the internal FET's RDS(ON) and the thermal performance of the package. Refer to the datasheet for thermal derating curves and output current limitations.
