A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and thermal vias is recommended. The thermal pad should be connected to a large copper area on the bottom layer to dissipate heat efficiently.
To ensure stability, use a minimum output capacitance of 10uF, and ensure that the output capacitor has a low ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance). Additionally, use a feedback resistor with a value between 1kΩ to 10kΩ.
The maximum input voltage that can be applied to the LMS4684LD/NOPB is 18V. Exceeding this voltage may cause damage to the device.
Use an external current sense resistor and a comparator to monitor the output current. When the current exceeds the maximum rating, the comparator can trigger a shutdown signal to protect the device.
A minimum input capacitance of 1uF is recommended, with a voltage rating of at least 25V. X5R or X7R ceramic capacitors are suitable for this application.
