A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and a separate power plane is recommended. Keep the input and output capacitors close to the IC, and use short, wide traces for the high-current paths.
Use a soft-start circuit to limit the inrush current during startup, and ensure the input voltage ramps up slowly. During shutdown, use a controlled shutdown sequence to prevent voltage spikes and ensure the IC remains within its SOA.
A low-ESR ceramic capacitor with a value of 10-22uF is recommended. The capacitor should be placed close to the IC and connected between the VIN and GND pins.
Check the input voltage, output voltage, and current sense resistor values. Verify the feedback resistors are correctly connected and the compensation network is properly configured. Use an oscilloscope to check for oscillations or noise on the output voltage.
The LM5025AMTCX/NOPB is rated for operation up to 125°C. However, the IC's performance and reliability may degrade at high temperatures. Ensure proper thermal management, such as heat sinking and airflow, to maintain a safe operating temperature.
