A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and a separate power plane is recommended. The RF signal traces should be kept short and away from digital signal traces. A good decoupling scheme and a low-ESR capacitor on the power pin are also essential.
Transmission power can be optimized by adjusting the PATABLE register (0x3E-0x40) to set the desired output power level. Additionally, the PA_BOOST register (0x41) can be used to further adjust the output power. However, ensure that the transmission power does not exceed the regulatory limits.
The recommended crystal oscillator frequency for the CC1100RTK is 26 MHz. This frequency provides the best trade-off between frequency accuracy and power consumption.
Frequency hopping can be implemented by using the FHSS (Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum) mode. This mode is enabled by setting the FHSS_MODE bit (bit 7) in the MDMCFG2 register (0x09). The hopping sequence can be programmed using the FHSS_HOPPING_SEQUENCE register (0x4A-0x4F).
The CC1100RTK supports a maximum data rate of 500 kbps in the 868/915 MHz frequency bands and 250 kbps in the 433 MHz frequency band.
