A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and a separate power plane is recommended. Keep the input and output capacitors close to the IC, and use short, wide traces for the power paths. Refer to the TI application note 'BQ24230RGTR PCB Layout Guidelines' for more details.
Choose X5R or X7R ceramic capacitors with a voltage rating of at least 1.5 times the maximum input voltage. For the input capacitor, a 10uF to 22uF capacitor is recommended. For the output capacitor, a 10uF to 47uF capacitor is recommended. Ensure the capacitors are placed close to the IC and have a low ESR.
The BQ24230RGTR is rated for operation from -40°C to 85°C. However, the device can be operated up to 105°C with derating. Refer to the datasheet for thermal derating curves.
The output voltage is set using the FB pin and an external resistor divider network. The resistor values can be calculated using the formulae provided in the datasheet. For example, for a 5V output, R1 = 10kΩ and R2 = 2.2kΩ.
The EN pin is an active-high enable input that allows the device to be turned on and off. Connect the EN pin to a logic high (e.g., VCC) to enable the device, and connect it to a logic low (e.g., GND) to disable the device.
